Summary:
The purchasing specialist is assigned to handle purchasing processes and decisions for the business while adhering to an assigned budget. The PS must also keep track of all records and data as they pertain to company purchases and bids submitted to vendors. They are also charged with reporting this information to their supervisor on a regular basis. The duties of this position entail purchasing business-related items and equipment, as well as negotiating with various vendors to ensure that a fair price for goods and services is being received. The PS will also make bids for goods and services on behalf of a company.

Responsibilities:
- Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Selects products for purchase by analyzing cost and quality of items in conjunction with department heads.
- Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase, quotes, etc.
- Assures the correct accounting code is assigned to each purchase.
- Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
- Expedites delivery of goods to users, when necessary.
- Performs other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the manager.
- Sell overstock, non-core or other product designated by management through alternate channels.
- Develop appropriate relationships with decision makers
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years purchasing experience in a B2B environment.
- Proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Professional communication with vendors and other stakeholders.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to work independently within a team-oriented organization
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills-including prioritization
- Ability to meet deadlines that are often tight and variable
- Experience with technology is a plus.
- The pay range is $21-$25/hr., based on experience.
